  • Over ADVERTISING

We enjoy putting a podcast on, lying down, relax, close our eyes…

The ADS are off putting. The storytelling never realized because the 8 minute blasts 💥 of ADs being an unsettling distraction over and over? Turn off, delete podcast. Another awaits discovery …

  • Good but…

I’m only on episode 3, so I might be a bit bias, ands it’s a great podcast, but there’s SO many ads… like probably over 7 minutes of ads per episode. Seems like a bit much.

I might update this later once I’ve listened to more.

Dock Ellis: High and Outside [from Very Special Episodes]
Q: How did Dock Ellis explain pitching a no-hitter while under the influence?
He framed it as a difficult, almost accidental moment influenced by the drug and environment, and emphasized that he viewed his life and career beyond that one game, focusing on his later work and redemption.
Did Thomas Jefferson Steal the Declaration of Independence? [from American History Hotline]
Q: Why is North Carolina central to this story?
North Carolina's Mecklenburg Declaration predates the national Declaration in its historical narrative, and local pride makes the question of authorship particularly charged there.
Did Thomas Jefferson Steal the Declaration of Independence? [from American History Hotline]
Q: What did Adams uncover about the Mecklenburg Declaration in 1819?
Adams found receipts and correspondence suggesting that Jefferson may have borrowed language or ideas, which led to a debate about who truly authored the Declaration and its wording.
A Very Special Mini-Mailbag
Q: What's your process for deciding festival events, and what would you actually include in a Very Special Episodes festival?
Hosts brainstorm a mix of pop culture games, cross-promotional ideas, and fan-participation activities, emphasizing humor and nostalgia while keeping the energy high and inclusive.
A Very Special Mini-Mailbag
Q: Do you three have any control over which ads run in the show? Second part, are there any products that you love so much that you would endorse for free?
Not really; ad categories are blocked, and ads vary by listener location and history. They do, however, acknowledge some products they genuinely enjoy and would consider endorsing for free, though it remains context dependent.
