It will question what makes people want to escape the modern world, and which lifestyle is kinder to our planet. I once found a genuine 1940’s oil lamp in a charity shop, and by the time I got to the ... more

  • Love this podcast

I love Hannah’s YouTube channel and was thrilled to learn she has a companion podcast. I love these topics discussed. I have been very interested in 1940s wartime history and Hannah covers this so very well and puts it all in modern context.

  • Old modern

Loved episode on old cars. My 33 yr old car runs great so long as I can find the replacement parts. This means calling junkyards near and far and being patient…until the part can be found. I can see the appeal of new cars, they don’t drip fluids, and they are less polluting in theory. But they look like shiny plastic garbage to me. Will a 2024 car be on the road in 30 years? • Like listening to my own thoughts

I am also a self confessed Home Front geek and listening to this podcast for me is like finding someone having the conversations I’ve always wanted to have about a vintage life style in a modern world, the perils of todays society and why it’s making us so unhappy and the joys of social media. It’s also such a giggle and I find myself wanting to listen to them all again as soon as I’ve heard them ☺️

Q: So do you feel that as a society, and I don't know if this is just Western society, mainly or worldwide, are we losing a sense of the joy of the task and the joy of doing?
Yes, I do believe that the joy of the task is eroding because society is increasingly outcome-driven, making people focus on the finished product rather than enjoying the process.
The Real Betty & Evelyn
Q: What struggles would queer women have faced in past generations?
Queer women faced significant challenges including lack of access to safe spaces, financial independence, and societal acceptance, with legal restrictions often hindering their ability to interact freely.

It's important because vintage fashion represents a living history, and wearing these pieces keeps the memories and stories alive in a more tangible way.
Revival Vintage
Q: What are some of the challenges of running your own business?
Challenges include dealing with Brexit impacts on sales, recruitment difficulties, and ensuring that partners understand their specific vintage niche.
Revival Vintage
Q: How does the world of fast fashion affect a family-run business like your own?
It doesn't really harm us; in fact, it helps us as people are looking for alternatives to fast fashion and valuing quality pieces more.
