  • Thank You

I grew up in the church, I’m 66, I’m so happy there are People in the church like you. My life as a young gay man was lonely and scary. My life was avoiding everyone from my family, Church, until my parents passed away then I came out. I lost family, friends….. I’ve created new, it warms my heart people in the church have more support. I’m learning so much listening to your stories, perspective, I’ve recommended your podcast to other parents.

  • Great resource and support!

I am so happy the podcast is back, I appreciate your perspectives and insight. Lift and Love has been such a huge part of my journey as a mom the last several years and I can’t imagine where I would be without it. My husband has been slower to dive into all of the resources but I bought us tickets to Gather and it was an incredible experience - words don’t do it justice but I am so grateful we were able to be a part of that sacred space. Thank you for all of the work you do! You are changing liv... more

The work Allison and Jenie are doing has helped me love deeper and stronger. I feel like I’m a better mom, sister and woman because of the things they teach about Christlike Love and helped me better love, especially our LGBTQ+ children.

Parenting Trans Kids - We have a Lot of Work to Do (with Ingrid Smith) Lift+Love Podcast Episode #69
Q: What is a common concern among religious families about gender-affirming care, and how should parents approach it?
A common concern is balancing protection and love with acceptance, recognizing that while medical decisions involve risks, the core issue is supporting the child's safety and mental health, and engaging doctors and therapists to understand options is essential.
Parenting Trans Kids - We have a Lot of Work to Do (with Ingrid Smith) Lift+Love Podcast Episode #69
Q: Is Ingrid focused only on trans kids or does she also work with non-binary individuals and their families?
Ingrid works primarily with parents of trans and non-binary kids, and she also occasionally chats with transgender adults in specific contexts, providing perspectives tailored to parents of young people while recognizing broader gender diversity.
A Conversation with David Archuleta - Lift+Love Podcast Episode 67
Q: What wisdom do you have? What would you say to church leaders if a kid comes out to you, an adult comes out, if someone comes out to you, what is okay to say or not say?
David emphasizes that leaders should remain curious, listen, and avoid rushing to conclusions; it's okay to take time, ask questions, and acknowledge that each person's experience is complex, rather than prescribing a single answer.
But Jesus - Episode 55
Q: Tell us about how this book came about.
The book parallels my journey as a mother and is filled with conversations I had with my son and others, leading to the distinctive vignettes in the poetry collection.
