Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ibragim Badertdinov: From Dentistry to AI, Coding Agents, SWE-rebench | JetBrains Research Podcast
Q: How do you evaluate progress in coding agents and benchmarks like SWE Rebench?
Progress is evaluated with verifiable tasks, multi-turn interactions, and task descriptions paired with patches and tests; the benchmarks track model performance across multiple runs, report prices (cost), and include filtering to prevent contamination from training data.
Ibragim Badertdinov: From Dentistry to AI, Coding Agents, SWE-rebench | JetBrains Research Podcast
Q: What is a coding agent and how does it differ from other agents?
A coding agent is an LLM augmented with tools in a loop that interacts with a dynamic environment, enabling it to perform software tasks like reading code, fixing bugs, and running tests; differences between Codex, Coursor, or Cloud Code mainly lie in the toolset, integration, and environment scaffolding they use.
Anna Kogan: OpenCV, Future of Computer Vision, Open Source vs. Startups | JetBrains Research Podcast
Q: So how did you move from OpenCV to Fitwise, and what motivated the shift from a library to a product-focused startup?
I had a long-standing dream of building a product and led the OpenCV.AI consulting arm, which showed me there is demand for commercialization but that turning an open-source core into a sustainable product is challenging. I wanted to create something with real daily value, not just a toolkit, so we started Fitwise to focus on biomechanics and analytics for high-performance sports.
