Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tech talent gets wasted | Amber Vodegel
Q: What is your high-note takeaway or the most important issues you're solving with your current venture?
We're aiming to educate hundreds of health topics without gating it behind cloud-based infrastructure, enabling data ownership, privacy, and accessibility for women worldwide, while building a sustainable model that can run for many years.
Tech talent gets wasted | Amber Vodegel
Q: What would be your call to action slash advice to people who are in the innovation field now, and what would be your biggest learning from being an entrepreneur already for so long?
Be sustainable and ensure you can fund and operate the venture long-term. Plan for ongoing donations or revenue, not just one-off funding, and focus on building something that you can look back on with pride rather than chasing short-term hits.
Predicting the next pandemic | Larry Brilliant
Q: What was the biggest barrier you faced in eradicating smallpox, and what was crucial to overcoming it?
The biggest barrier was lack of consensus and structural support within the WHO and international communities; overcoming it required unwavering collaboration, a decisive shift from mass vaccination to targeted containment, securing cross-country cooperation (similar to what the euro did for unity), and persistent on-the-ground implementation led by a large, diverse team. This combination turned a daunting goal into a feasible, coordinated effort.
Designing Healthcare 2030 | Daniel Kraft
Q: What is the biggest challenge to achieving proactive health powered by wearables and AI?
Cultural resistance in medicine, workflow integration, liability and governance for data, and incentives in payment systems all need to align so that data can be transformed into meaningful care actions.
Designing Healthcare 2030 | Daniel Kraft
Q: Could you briefly introduce yourself and share your view of what the future of health care looks like?
I'm a physician-scientist who believes the future comes from the intersection of multiple accelerating technologies—wearables, genomics, AI, data, and new business models—that will shift health from reactive to proactive and from hospital-centered to near-home settings.
