Bulliet is not a superior lecturer. But he IS an obvious expert, and has a good sense of humor. I enjoy listening to him.
Great site and love the professor! Hope your podcast has many years of exposure and other’s enjoy it as much as I do.
This is more about the process of piecing together history than it is the dates and facts. But if you have the time and interest, this guy really knows his stuff and you get a real perspective on how to “do history.” I liked it a lot.
You are virtually sitting in a Columbia University classroom listening to a super knowledgeable Professor discuss fascinating aspects of history. How cool is that???!!! I thank everyone involved for making this opportunity available.
I am a world history teacher and had high hopes. I listened to the first three and that’s all I could get through. He goes on and on about the most obscure things and after three episodes I couldn’t think of one thing I had learned and/or found interesting. I gave it an honest effort, but this podcast was definitely not for me.
A breadth of understanding and quite good humor as well! more
Hard to hear what he says because of quality of sound issues sometimes. Otherwise one of the most masterful intelectual performances that I have ever seen and I am a history teacher.
Professor Bulliet is one of the best teachers ever. I can’t understand any negative reviews. He is so learned & charming i return to these classes just to refresh my memory. The breadth & depth of his knowledge is astounding, as is his humility. I just wish there were more lectures available.
