  • Great show

    Love this show.

But please organize the podcasts differently.

First, most recent at the top, so we don’t need to scroll through a bunch of old podcasts to find the most recent.

Second, it would be nice if you could find a way to date the podcasts so if I listen to older podcasts I have an idea when they were created.

  • Great show

Greetings from Billings. I worked hard for the last 2 campaigns (even door knocking) and have met the senator a couple times. He’s a good man. This interview with Gloria Allred was so enlightening. I would like to see her out there more. She knows so much from the most important (survivor) point of view. I do have to listen to this on 1.5 speed but that’s just me. Originally being from Chicago, Montanans speak too slow.

  • Not co-equal branches of government

From a fellow native Montanan. Almost every week you state that congress is a co-equal branch of the US government. From my civic class I learned Article 1 - “the people” - is the primary and superior branch. Controls the budget, oversight of executive, war-making power, etc.

Granting the president power over the legislative has created this untenable situation.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Playing with Fire
Q: How does the Forest Service budgeting and staffing affect on-the-ground firefighting?
Budgeting often involves shortfalls and acknowledged 'voodoo' in numbers; while decisions aim to support crews, the scale of large fires requires flexible, well-funded staffing and equipment to respond effectively.
Playing with Fire
Q: What does preparation look like for communities near fire-prone areas?
Experts advise having a go-bag ready with essential items, hardening homes, and creating defensible space around property to slow fire spread and buy time for evacuation.
Begin at Your Front Door
Q: How can individuals manage information overload while staying informed?
The book advocates information sobriety, an information inventory, and strategies to focus on important facts and issues that matter to you, rather than consuming every news cycle.
Begin at Your Front Door
Q: What does the book suggest people do beyond just voting and telling others to vote?
It outlines concrete, time-sensitive actions such as local community engagement, mutual aid, Know Your Rights trainings, and building relationships with local journalists and community members to support informed action.
Where There’s Smoke
Q: What are your priorities when you get to Washington, DC?
The guest emphasizes housing, bipartisan relationship-building across the aisle, and a return to hands-on, district-focused engagement, with a focus on practical policy like forest management and rural economic resilience.
