When my son decided he wanted to go to a military academy, I craved hearing stories from every graduate or relative familiar with the academies. These applications are like no other and everyone’s journey is completely different. I found myself searching out people who had a background or a situation similar to ours. When I found this podcast I stopped search searching. And just started listening to LTC Kirkland and former Officer Trish Dach on my drive to and from work each day. They became tru... more
We son just got through the application process and received an appointment to the USNA in early January. This podcast was excellent at providing detailed information for the entire process. It also gave us confidence that all the work/effort he had put forth during high school would make him an outstanding candidate. We started the process in late August his senior year and he was fortunate to have all the academic, leadership, and extracurricular activities needed to receive an appointment. De... more
I really loved the two episodes that I just listened to! My daughter is in 9th grade and I found this very helpful and insightful. I never would have thought of paid work in the scheme of things. Why don’t you speak much about the coast guard academy? That is her number one choice after analyzing all of the mission statements. However we plan to apply to more than one. Navy is her number 2. She wants to be a marine biologist which seems to align with the CGA. Thank you!
Thank you for the great information. My son, daughter and I are starting the CAP cadets in 3 weeks!
Please include the us coast guard academy.
