  • A lot of waffle not much else

Listened to a couple of episodes and afraid there wasn’t any actual advice on either, just a lot of waffle talk without saying anything useful or practical. ‘Her budget was budgeting’ ‘she got out of her head and got the math to math’ ok but how? A lot of wasted air on this show, sorry

  • Encouraging, Practical, and Truly Helpful

I had the opportunity to be a guest on the Financial Coaching Podcast today, and I left even more impressed with Vanessa and Shana and the incredible work they are doing through Budget Besties. Their approach to budgeting and financial coaching is practical, encouraging, and realistic for everyday people. They create a judgement-free space where finances feel manageable instead of overwhelming. I highly recommend listening to their podcast and learning more about their system!

  • Financially illiterate no more!

I’ve never had confidence when it comes to money management and budgeting. I did OK until I got married and then handed over the responsibility to my husband. This podcast has made me realize the importance of financial literacy and has made me confident in my ability to understand a realistic budgeting strategy that works for my life. So grateful for the Budget Besties! 💕

Debt vs Savings, Savings Buckets, and Investing: Your Money Questions Answered | 599
Q: We are $27,000 in debt. What should we do first, pay off debt or set aside for future months?
We'd start by building three budgets: your personal, your husband's business, and your own business, to identify how much money you truly have and where it can cover low months. Then decide whether to pay off small debts to reduce monthly payments or keep funds to weather slow periods, prioritizing payments that remove recurring costs and increase wiggle room.
Your Credit Card Isn’t a Budget: The Simple System to Stop Mindless Spending (Without Tracking Every Dollar) | 584
Q: All right, girls, so to let us know what questions you have and how can we help you?
Katrina explains her situation and asks for guidance on creating a sustainable, automated budgeting system given multiple jobs, debt, and life goals; the hosts respond with a structured plan and coaching offer.
She Wants to Quit Her Job, but Feels Guilty Because They’re Paying Off Debt | 585
Q: How do I know when it's time to let a job go while trying to get out of debt?
Assess with a full, on-paper budget showing post-job finances, ensure savings buckets can cover annual and holiday costs, and keep debt payments going even after leaving the job; also consider future income from education.
She Wants to Quit Her Job, but Feels Guilty Because They’re Paying Off Debt | 585
Q: Hi, I've been using the system and I love it, but I ran into an issue. I get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month, so bimonthly—how do I set up my autos for that schedule?
Create two separate transfer sets tied to consistent dates (for example one on the 1st and another on the 15th) so money lands in the bills account on both pay cycles, and adjust only the exact dates as your bank supports.
How to Stop Pop-Up Expenses From Derailing Your Budget | 569
Q: Which debt payoff method do they typically start with, and when might you switch strategies?
Snowball is the default, but if a larger sum becomes available, you can pause and pay off a higher-interest debt to free up budget space, then potentially switch strategies as needed.
