  • Great content, terrible sound quality

I really like the content, so interesting and well explained. We always need to keep on top of the latest trends. Unfortunately the sound is terrible, the sound levels are very bad and hard to listen to with headphones. They need to book a studio.

  • Poor audio quality :(

I love listening to these podcasts as a CFE myself, but it does need some improvement in the audio quality. It’s not quite clear, it sounds as if the person was talking from afar.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Culture, Compliance and Humanizing Fraud Risk - Dr. Ursula Schmidt - Episode 168
Q: What concrete practices can organizations adopt to build a healthy culture that supports reporting and reduces the stigma around whistleblowing?
She highlights top-down signaling, active skip-level conversations, and a culture of transparency where leadership openly invites concerns, paired with user-friendly risk inquiries and continuous training that normalize speaking up as a valued, protective behavior for the company.
Culture, Compliance and Humanizing Fraud Risk - Dr. Ursula Schmidt - Episode 168
Q: What is your path into internal audit and compliance, and what drew you toward fraud and misconduct risk management?
Dr. Schmidt describes a pragmatic, two-track path: starting in internal audit due to an available role, followed by expanding into compliance as governance and regulatory expectations evolved, ultimately integrating both functions to build robust fraud risk programs.
30 Years of Occupational Fraud Insights: Making the Report to the Nations - John Warren and Andi McNeal - Episode 167
Q: What goes into the data writing and presentation process to produce a 108-page report that is useful for both professionals and organizational leaders?
The team works to balance retrospective trends with new angles, selects findings that are meaningful for practitioners and leaders, and compiles data into coherent narratives and infographics that clearly explain how fraud occurs, is detected, and how controls can be strengthened.
30 Years of Occupational Fraud Insights: Making the Report to the Nations - John Warren and Andi McNeal - Episode 167
Q: So I'm kind of curious, I guess my question is, how the survey comes together, and really what specifically we want to ask, because one of the things that I think is great about the report is the consistency of it.
The process starts with a broad fielding of the survey to tens of thousands of CFEs, followed by cleansing to identify 2,000–3,000 usable responses. A dedicated team reads each response in detail to ensure data quality, then the team aggregates and analyzes the data to derive the report's findings, balancing long-standing trends with fresh insights.
The Power of Voice Biometrics in Today's Fraud Risk Landscape - Simon Marchand - Episode 166
Q: What should organizations prioritize when integrating AI into fraud prevention workflows?
Organizations should map the actual problems they're trying to solve, assess risk flows, involve human oversight, and consider governance frameworks before blindly adopting AI features.
