  • Dull, Dull, Dull.

This podcast used to have a really good dynamic. The main host has left and it’s now like watching paint dry.

It seems all these negative ratings are fanboys being hurtful for the guy who got paid for seven months without doing nothing, while Dewey & Lewis keeping the podcast running. I can’t speak for Leander since his behavior is just the same as guy who left.

  • A fun Apple podcast

Most tech podcasts are boring but this one isn’t. (Yes, I’m biased.) It’s the offspring of The CultCast, designed to showcase all the Apple news, reviews and how-tos featured on the Cult of Mac website.

  • Giveing it a bit more time

So many people have mentioned the show is not the same since of departure of Erfon. This is very much apparent.

Leander‘s microphone quality sounds like he’s in the bathroom on a bad iPhone. Griffin fades in and out quite often. The show does not have the same vitality.

That being said, I think there is room for two competing shows. Erfon‘s new show is not near what it was either. I think he was wrong to air his dirty laundry about this show and I think it’s long wrong for Leander to pretend i... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

MacBook Neo: Suffering from success
Q: If Mark is deciding between an iPad or a MacBook, which would you recommend for a casual user focused on mainstream apps?
We'd lean toward the iPad for most casual users, especially if they already own a Magic Keyboard, since it offers security, simplicity, and a comfortable reading/watching experience without the complexity of macOS, while the MacBook remains a great option for those needing a full desktop-class experience.
What the new Siri will actually do
Q: Mark in the UK asked for a deep dive on iPad Air vs Mac Neo and how hard it is for an iPad user to switch to a Mac.
Griffin explains that the Mac offers more powerful capabilities and traditional desktop features (Finder, Preview, Disk Utility), while iPadOS remains simpler and more restricted, but with the MacBook Neo potentially changing the cost-benefit balance; a deep dive would explore practical use cases, performance, and app ecosystem trade-offs.
Hands-on with the Studio Display XDR, MacBook Neo and iPhone 17e
Q: Could the Neo fit this niche for someone considering an M1 iPad as a primary mobile machine?
Yes, it is faster and offers a more capable macOS experience, making it a strong upgrade over an iPad for users who need real desktop software.
Interview with David Pogue, author of “Apple: The First 50 Years”
Q: So how much work was it? How long were you working on the book?
It took about two years of research, interviews with dozens of people, and extensive archival work, starting from the Mac 40th anniversary event and extending into access to current executives and internal archives to build a broad, colorful history.
