Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

159. Author Interview - Jessica Lunt (@jlunt2)
Q: Can you walk us through how you found a narrator for The Witch Hunter's Wife and what the audition process looked like?
Jessica details using ACX to post auditions, review samples, negotiate rates, and finalize contracts, with a timeline that allowed for smoother production on subsequent titles.
159. Author Interview - Jessica Lunt (@jlunt2)
Q: What was your experience moving from solo publishing to group anthologies, and how did that affect control and cohesion?
She notes that group publishing offered cohesion through shared design and process but required relinquishing some control, which had both benefits (cohesive cover design) and trade-offs (feeling like she was on others' coattails at times).
159. Author Interview - Jessica Lunt (@jlunt2)
Q: How did you decide which project to work on with the group, and what was your process for choosing the romantic story you joined?
Jessica explains that she chose the project due to a meaningful spark and a clear idea she could live with for 30,000 words, then embraced a pantsing approach to allow the story to evolve naturally without over-planning.
164. Author Interview - T.D. Orel (@t.d.orel)
Q: What advice do you have for new authors navigating publishing and writing?
TD advised focusing on scenes you're passionate about, writing out of order to preserve inspiration, and considering smaller formats like novellas for debut projects to ease readers into your world before tackling longer novels.
164. Author Interview - T.D. Orel (@t.d.orel)
Q: Was there planning for a seven-book arc or more beyond Titan's Nest, and how do you view prequels or novellas?
TD described the Darren Duskfell arc as a trilogy with broader world-building plans that include prequels or novellas set in the same universe, potentially expanding the saga through multiple standalone viewpoints.
