  • Inappropriate laughing

I’m listening to the show on citrus where Edie interviews Lance Walheim. She is laughing so much at unfunny things, I’ve got to think that she got into the weed, so to speak. Very annoying.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bob Tanem In The Garden with Edie Tanem, August 30 2026, 9:00 am
Q: What other predatory birds can help with garden pest control?
In addition to barn owls, red-tailed hawks, Cooper's hawks, sharp-shinned hawks, and other raptors can be leveraged using perches and habitat tweaks to expand the predator community and broaden pest control across different prey like small mammals and insects.
Bob Tanem In The Garden with Edie Tanem, August 30 2026, 9:00 am
Q: How far apart should the barn owl boxes be in a neighborhood?
Typically about 100 yards apart works well, with occupancy rates remaining high even at 60-80 yards in some setups; spacing supports an overlapping hunting grid that maximizes the collective impact on pests.
Bob Tanem In The Garden with Edie Tanem, August 2 2026, 9:00 am
Q: If a neighbor's tree causes damage, what remedies exist?
Remedies can include nuisance law actions, but often practical mediation and agreements can resolve issues before resorting to litigation, which can be costly.
Bob Tanem In The Garden with Edie Tanem, August 2 2026, 9:00 am
Q: What is tree law about and how does it affect neighbors disputes?
Tree law covers disputes from views to damage and focuses on underlying issues between neighbors; mediation can help uncover needs and repair relationships before legal action is taken.
Bob Tanem In The Garden with Edie Tanem, July 26 2026, 9:00 am
Q: Tell us again about your history and how you got into tree arborist work as a career.
Cal shared his path from studying Organic Farming to Bay Area horticulture, attending Merritt College, and landing at Davey Tree Services, where he progressed from ground work to climbing and finally becoming a sales arborist with certification in 2021.
