  • Hope I’m not too late.

As the title says I fear I may be late to this party of reviews. I’ve heard Chris and Scott mention many times to review and yet I always tell myself I’ll get to it. Well here I am. What motivated me to review was the most recent download of the show, introducing the end of it. It is sad to hear but also understandable. Cliche here: long time listener first time reviewer. I’m a 30 something year old who shares Chris’ name so maybe I just have a soft spot there. But with that said, these two guys... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Chapter 4 Ep. 20 WSOB: Babies, Billions, and Back to the Future
Q: If the cards never touched the muck, should the player be able to recover their hand after the fact?
Elliott notes that typically if a hand is declared dead, the decision is based on the sequence and pace of play; simply verbal declarations can be decisive, but protection and floor involvement matter. In most cases, if the hand is dead, it remains dead unless corrected through proper floor intervention or a misdeal can be addressed by the floor.
Chapter 4 Ep. 20 WSOB: Babies, Billions, and Back to the Future
Q: Can a dealer just declare a player's hand dead when the action is slowed or paused by headphones and inaction?
Elliott explains that in general the dealer cannot unilaterally declare a hand dead unless there is a direct violation of rules or a clear case of dead hand due to action not being taken. The floor should be involved if there is any dispute or ambiguity, and players are responsible for paying attention to protect their hands.
Chapter 4 Ep. 18 Don’t Play Scared
Q: How should a player respond to a messy desk versus a clean desk at the table?
They suggest being explicit about stack organization and consistency at the table, with players aligning their chip stacks to avoid confusion, while acknowledging different styles and the need for table etiquette to guide behavior.
Chapter 4 Ep. 18 Don’t Play Scared
Q: What is the current status of the WSOP dealer rating discussion and what concerns do players have?
The crew understands there is interest in rating dealers for accountability and feedback, but they worry about training standards, consistency, and the practicality of implementing a system that fairly reflects performance without stifling gameplay; they encourage continued discussion and input from players.
Chapter 4 Ep. 17 Bluffers, Bomb Pots & Barbecue Sauce
Q: What led to the shift from a print-dominated model to online and club-based engagement?
The decline in advertising dollars after the 2011-2012 period and the broader move of content online pushed Bluffers and the Bluff brand to reinvent itself through online platforms, clubs, and sponsored events rather than relying on print circulation.
