Tommy Zeigler has been on death row for 42 years and for more than half that time, he’s been trying to convince the state of Florida to allow for DNA tests that might help exonerate him. But the state continually refuses. About 20 other men are in a similar situation, imprisoned in Florida since the 1970s or ’80s and arguing that it’s inherently unfair to deny them access to 21st century science. ... more

Interesting story/case, solid narration, good combination of interviews, analysis and depth, no inane chat & banter like on too many pods these days sadly
A great story, well told. I’m on Episode 5 at the moment. A compelling case, and I still don’t know whether Zeigler is guilty or not, but I already know he didn’t get a fair trial. I find it extraordinary the lengths prosecutors will go to , to convict someone, and even the judge in this case, is a little less than ethical.
Not yet finished but the interviews and the grand jury testimony is a fascinating look at rural Florida in late Jim Crow era. The courts have made egregious errors in convictions but none as bad as Florida.
I'm finding this so fascinating! This happened one town over from where I live and I've never heard of it. I've been living under a rock apparently. Furniture store has an eerie parallel to Curtis Flowers. If you don't know Curtis Flowers, you must listen to In The Dark.
Very well done.
