  • One of the best esoteric podcasts

I look forward to every episode and have learned so much from these conversations. Ike’s book A Formless Fire is also an excellent book laying out the history of the western esoteric tradition.

Ike’s work stands head and shoulders above a lot of the occult podcasters out there. He’s professional, the interviews are always informative, and the overall production of the podcast itself is quality.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Practical Spellcraft, the Blows of Fate & Finding Your Magical Moment w. Judika Illes
Q: Can you share how the Magic Spells Oracle project came about and how you use it?
Judika discusses the co-production between publishers and her team, the four-suit structure of the cards, and how she uses the deck for contemplation and guided visualization, treating the cards as gifts.
Practical Spellcraft, the Blows of Fate & Finding Your Magical Moment w. Judika Illes
Q: What is your approach to balancing scholarly rigor with accessibility for the masses?
She explains a dual role as editor and author, aiming to educate regular people about magic without making it feel like an exclusive, academic pursuit, while still preserving credible references and depth.
Polar Dynamics, the Reign of Quantity & the Symbolism of the Sacred World w. Mario Garza of Symbolic Studies
Q: Can you give a quick introduction to Guénon and traditionalism for listeners new to the topic?
Traditionalism is the idea that there was an original, primordial tradition that all later traditions echo; it emphasizes qualitative, vertical orientation over the modern, quantitative, horizontal mindset, and sees symbols as bridges to a higher order rather than mere surfaces.
Re-visioning the Daimon: A Conversation w. Ike Baker & David Chaim Smith
Q: What is the ground of all this causal activity?
The ground is the essential being or the unified ground of awareness that underlies all phenomena, beyond the duality of cause and effect, which practitioners seek to realize through gnosis and grace.
Distorting the Divine Feminine, Real Gnosis & An Ultimate Act of Defiance in a World Gone Mad w. Janus
Q: But what have we got wrong? What have we got right? Is this compatible with Christianity?
Theurgy can be embraced broadly, and its practice can harmonize with Christian frameworks when approached as a sacramental path toward unitive experience rather than institutional Dogma; the aim is to awaken the person to experience the divine, not simply to affirm beliefs.
