  • Learning & Applying SO Much to My Life 🚀

Dragon has been on 🔥 since the "rebirth" of this show (episode 46 - the earlier episodes are great too). I'm learning something new in EVERY episode because there is so much that can be applied to lifestyle, mindset, & habits not to mention a tip on fitness, money, & life in general at the end of each episode. Make sure you've got a notes taking app or pen/paper handy for each weekly episode! Episode 48 is MUST listen btw 🎧

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Philip "PT Money" Taylor: FinCon, Online Entrepreneurship, The Creator Journey, Financial Independence, & Community | FRLP 111
Q: First, for those who don't know what FinCon is, give me the quick elevator pitch and then rewind to your journey of debt and becoming a CPA.
FinCon is a yearly gathering of personal-finance content creators, from blogs to podcasts, who come to learn, collaborate with brands, and grow their audiences. It started from a small meetup and a newsletter and grew into a large conference that connected creators with opportunities and a like-minded community. PT Money's debt journey and CPA background framed his path: he started blogging to document and share his progress, leveraged tax planning and financial education to fund his life, left corporate accounting to pursue entrepreneurship, and eventually built FinCon as a way for creators to gather, learn, and accelerate their businesses.
Naseema McElroy: Paid Off $1M of Debt, Financial Shame, Money Trauma, Divorce, Looking Rich vs Getting Rich & More | FRLP 106
Q: How did you begin changing your money mindset and circle to reach FI?
She started by curating a new virtual circle on Instagram, following FI influencers, and joining online communities. This led to realizing that wealth is about numbers and networks, not age, and helped her shift toward pursuing financial independence.
Naseema McElroy: Paid Off $1M of Debt, Financial Shame, Money Trauma, Divorce, Looking Rich vs Getting Rich & More | FRLP 106
Q: Why debt snowball over debt avalanche, given the higher math of the latter?
She chose the debt snowball for the psychological wins and momentum it provided. While mathematically avalanche is faster, clearing smaller debts first created confidence and motivation to continue, which was crucial for long-term adherence.
Naseema McElroy: Paid Off $1M of Debt, Financial Shame, Money Trauma, Divorce, Looking Rich vs Getting Rich & More | FRLP 106
Q: Tell me about paying off a million dollars in debt.
Naseema explains that she mapped out every debt, used a debt-snowball approach to tackle the smallest balances first, and implemented zero-based budgeting to ensure every dollar had a job. This created small, repeatable wins that built momentum and culminated in paying off nearly a million dollars over about three years, even while managing an abusive marriage and a divorce.
Jordan Grumet: The Purpose Code, Maximizing Happiness, Unlocking Meaning, Leaving Legacy & More | Episode 86
Q: How do you distinguish between Big P and Little P purpose?
Big P is big, audacious, and often scarce due to its dependence on luck and external factors; Little P is process-oriented, abundant, and focused on activities that light you up, which reduces anxiety and increases happiness.
