Among this series' many fine attributes, I particularly appreciate historian Margaret MacMillan's voiceover -- not just the content but also the feeling and sound of her narration. I wish this day by day series were more extensive but I am glad that even this 1914 set of mini-podcasts exists. Thank you, BBC.
This is a potted history if the days leading up to WW1, using commentary and snippets from original news broadcasts. It shows not just how the war was brewing, but interestingly how, when Ferdinand and his wife were killed, Britain was much more concerned with political troubles in Ireland and elsewhere. Fascinating. A glimpse into the news and personalities that captivated the British mind in the very early days of WWI as well as the daily events that lead to the greatest disaster of the early 20th century. Wonderful bite-size length.
