  • This is the best podcast you wish you never needed.

Grief is a heavy, often silent burden—and grieving the loss of a child is a pain that defies words. It’s not just the end of a life; it can be the end of conversations, friendships, even your sense of belonging. Where do you turn when most people can’t understand? Who do you talk to when your memories feel “out of date” while others share updates about their living children?

While We're Waiting offers a lifeline in that silence. More than just a podcast, it’s a Facebook page, a private communit... more

  • Much needed hope and comfort

I listen to Jill’s podcast While We’re Waiting, Hope After Child Loss every single day. I’m 8 months in from saying goodbye to my son when he went to heaven. I am always filled with hope, comfort and most importantly scripture after every episode. Thank you so much Jill for all you do to help bereaved parents as you too walk this journey with Jesus.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

307 | Even Though, We Will (Part Two) with Matthew Efird
Q: You talk about a delicate dance of worshiping and weeping. What did you mean by that?
The idea is that grief can be felt through both deep sorrow and worshipful trust; they can and should coexist, with worship providing a path forward even in the midst of pain.
305 | Circle of Sorrow (Part Two) with Keallie Wozny
Q: How did you come to rest in God's truth about the unforgivable sin in relation to suicide?
I was not raised in a Christian home and had heard about the unforgivable sin, but my understanding deepened as Trevor came to the Lord; scripture like Romans 8 and the assurance of God's love helped me see that Jesus died for all sins, which became the foundation for hope and healing.
296 | One Chapter at a Time (Part Two) with Tricia Patrick
Q: Music has been an important part of your journey. what is on your playlist?
Worship and Christian songs carried our family from the hospital room to the funeral, providing a steady focus on praising God; at times, songs with Scripture or comforting messages helped me stay anchored, while some non-worship tracks acknowledged the need to grieve and set boundaries.
296 | One Chapter at a Time (Part Two) with Tricia Patrick
Q: What advice would you give to a newly bereaved parent, maybe specifically someone who has lost a child to suicide?
Keep going one small step at a time, lean into devotions and Scripture even when it feels foggy, and give yourself permission to pace your healing. Over time, you may find that God's promises start to feel more real and you can begin to serve others through your pain.
295 | One Chapter at a Time (Part One) with Tricia Patrick
Q: As a parent who has lost a child to suicide, do you feel like there are issues that you have to deal with that complicate the grief journey?
Yes, definitely. I felt humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed, constantly aware of others potentially judging our situation.
