Women who have sacrificed much for the sake of the gospel have left an amazing legacy. Some of that is in the courage their stories inspire in a whole new generation of women who would go. But that legacy can only be realized if their stories are told. This is the Velvet Ashes Legacy podcast.

  • Interesting, Encouraging, and Inspiring

I really enjoy this podcast, it’s so interesting, encouraging, and inspiring! The only thing is sometimes the sensitive vocab (and frequency of it) makes me concerned about listening in-country so I’m looking forward to enjoying more of it when I’m stateside but am unsure of how wise it would be to listen in sensitive regions

42. Marian Clark
Q: Professor Clark, thank you for being here to chat about Marian Clark.
Rick Clark offers a personal, familial perspective on Marian's life, her Ecuador years, and the impact of her faithfulness across media and mission work.
47. Imposter Syndrome and Belonging with Jenn Chang
Q: How common is imposter syndrome among women who are capable leaders, and how would you define it for listeners?
Imposter syndrome is a widely observed phenomenon where capable women feel inadequate or fear exposure as a fraud. It arises from lack of mentors, models, and supportive frameworks, but can be mitigated by recognizing one's God-given gifts, surrounding oneself with mentors, and embracing leadership as a shared, divinely empowered calling rather than a gendered expectation.
47. Imposter Syndrome and Belonging with Jenn Chang
Q: What would you say to the women who are doing the dishes right now or taking a walk and are listening to this, processing, and feeling stirred to explore more leadership?
Don't ignore that tension; it is often the Holy Spirit prompting you toward leadership. It may feel scary and risky, but stepping into that calling leads to deeper joy and thriving in God, and you don't have to pretend to be someone you're not—start with small steps like joining a coaching cohort or having conversations with mentors to explore your gifts.
39. Delighting in Pens and Dawn's Story
Q: What was the experience like when Dawn first joined the podcast as a guest?
Dawn described how her connection with the Velvet Ashes team began in Italy, how a last-minute retreat offered restoration, and how the sabbatical helped her transition to a life of being available and supporting others rather than constantly planning. The interviewer highlighted Dawn's Italy expertise and her ongoing influence within the community.
