  • Dear host, please wake up for work

Why is he so sleepy? Great topics and content are ruined by the most unlistenable host in the podcast world. Tell me where to send the Starbucks gift card? Clearly espresso is needed.

  • Not Worth your Time

I’ve listened to many episodes to see if this is worth listening to regularly. Background: I am an energy professional. I have not heard anything interesting or revelatory in this podcast. The last straw was the CERA week episode. The content was so high level and bland and uninteresting that I’ve decided to remove this show from my list. This is a show where moderators talk to moderators. Would not recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Talking energy-as-a-service with Budderfly (Ep. 248)
Q: How does the virtual power plant concept integrate with customer deployments?
The VPP acts as a software layer that aggregates distributed resources, enabling fast demand response by curtailing HVAC and other loads across many sites, and storing energy in batteries to shift and monetize demand savings.
Talking energy-as-a-service with Budderfly (Ep. 248)
Q: Can you explain the core value proposition of Budderfly's model to a commercial customer?
We take over the energy bill and fund the installation of energy-saving equipment, deliver a guaranteed percentage of the savings as our revenue over a 10-12 year period, and handle most of the complexity so the customer experiences a simple, predictable discount on their energy costs.
Talking trash: Neogenyx Fuels and the opportunity to scale landfill RNG (Ep. 247)
Q: What policy developments could expand RNG markets, especially internationally?
Expanding RFS pathways to include maritime fuel use, and international efforts by IMO to green shipping, could dramatically expand RNG demand. Additionally, if RNG feeds into existing SMR hydrogen production pathways, capital expenditure can be reduced and market adoption accelerated.
Talking trash: Neogenyx Fuels and the opportunity to scale landfill RNG (Ep. 247)
Q: Why focus on landfill gas, and how does the economics work for landowners?
Landfill gas is a byproduct of waste that would otherwise be destructed; capturing and converting it into RNG provides a royalty or equity return to landfill owners and reduces emissions. The RNG can replace fossil gas in pipelines with one-for-one compatibility, while environmental attributes can be sold separately under RFS.
Talking trash: Neogenyx Fuels and the opportunity to scale landfill RNG (Ep. 247)
Q: What is Neogenyx Fuels, and what does the partnership with HASI bring?
Neogenyx Fuels is a joint venture combining Ameresco's long-standing biogas development and operations with HASI's capital, intended to scale RNG projects globally and expand into green-molecules like hydrogen. The HASI equity provides a large capital base to accelerate project pipelines and scale execution.
