  • Highly reccomend

This is a fantastic podcast that discusses the issues we all are thinking about and want to talk about. I highly recommend sharing this with the women in your life.

One thought is to maybe make the transitions to advertising a little smoother. When you’re talking about sensitive topics and then a man comes on discussing the summit or other great information it feels a little abrupt and unsettling.

Thanks for tackling these very important issues!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

112 - The Brain, Lust, & Long-Term Recovery
Q: What actually happens in the brain and body when male sexual drive is triggered, beyond resisting the urge?
Hormonal changes during puberty cause spikes in testosterone and other physiological responses; sexuality is a good, God-given part of being human, and understanding its biology helps steward it responsibly rather than using it to excuse bad behavior.
112 - The Brain, Lust, & Long-Term Recovery
Q: How long does it take for brain pathways and bonds to change after quitting pornography?
The brain adapts gradually; significant changes can be evident in three to four months with consistent healthy behaviors and a strong support system, though old pathways may linger and relapse can occur during stress.
110 - Emotional Intimacy: More Than Sobriety
Q: Do you have suggestions or tools for couples struggling with emotional intimacy despite long recovery?
Use structured tools like the Feeling Wheel and Thoughts and Feelings Log, practice curiosity about emotions, and maintain ongoing communication to normalize emotional sharing and reduce anxiety around vulnerability.
110 - Emotional Intimacy: More Than Sobriety
Q: My husband has been sober from pornography for 12 years. He is sober but not recovering. He connects to everyone else in his life, but emotionally and physically neglects me. How do we address respect and connection when relapse isn't the issue?
Acknowledge that this can be a normal phase of recovery where non-acting-out behaviors continue; work on rebuilding safety and secure attachment through regular check-ins, shared activities, and addressing underlying needs and avoidance patterns with professional support.
110 - Emotional Intimacy: More Than Sobriety
Q: My sexually addicted husband is three months into recovery. He said he's never been fully honest with me. How much should he share?
Focus on safety and honesty in the near term, establish a relapse action plan, and agree on what needs to be shared now versus later, while pursuing professional guidance to support transparent communication.
