  • Guest: Hannah Nitz

All serious topics aside… can we discuss how contagious Hannah Nitz’s laugh is?? I love all she brings to this podcast when she’s been a guest. But the laugh makes me smile and laugh with her. I’ll need to listen again to get the deeper takeaways now😂

In all seriousness, thanks Juli for your ministry and the hard things you discuss with such gentleness and grace, giving us all a “safe space” to process the things we might’ve been too afraid to confront in our own lives.❤️

Appreciate that this material is out there from a Christian perspective. The two main hosts are women, which sometimes lead to what feels like unbalanced expectations toward men (not mirrored for women) in the conversations. That’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars, but again the fact that anyone is talking about this as much as they are—really glad for that.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"Show It Off" or "Cover It Up": Messages That Shape Our Body Image, #381
Q: How has the Me Too movement interacted with church culture in your communities, and what changes do you think are needed?
Me Too underscored the reality of abuse and the need for accountability; it calls for systemic change within church leadership, trauma-informed approaches, and ongoing conversations that do not shame victims but empower healing and justice.
"Show It Off" or "Cover It Up": Messages That Shape Our Body Image, #381
Q: What message would you give to the broader Christian culture to be more sensitive to unique issues that women of color face in the church?
acknowledge and validate the distinct cultural experiences of Black and Latina women, avoid one-size-fits-all theology, and actively include diverse voices in discussions about sexuality, body image, and ministry so that women can feel seen and valued.
Why So Many Young People Feel Confused About Sexuality, #613
Q: So I'd love for you just to tell me, what is the difference between Emerging Gender Identities and Emerging Sexual Identities, and where might there be some overlap?
They shift around embodiment and language: gender identity focuses on embodiment and language about gender, while sexual identities focus more on sexual orientation and attraction; both are expanding, and the books aim to help parents and ministers understand these changes and engage with care.
How Your Story Shapes the Way You Approach Sex & Intimacy, #612
Q: How can someone begin to change their attachment style?
Once someone becomes aware of their style, they can pursue specific growth goals to lean into the opposite tendency, leveraging neuroplasticity and narrative to reframe emotional responses and improve intimacy.
How Your Story Shapes the Way You Approach Sex & Intimacy, #612
Q: What are attachment styles and why is it important that we know them?
Marc explains that attachment styles are learned relationship patterns that originate in childhood and influence how people relate in adulthood, especially in romance and sexuality; awareness is the first step toward growth.
