  • TikTok live of DC walk around.

I just found you on TikTok, and so happy that I did. I’ve been feeling lost as a Christian who is a Progressive. You mentioned being progressive and Christian in America is just at about 18%, and I feel that. I’m happy to know there’s a dedicated voice out here for us, it’s a strange and dark time we are going through.

  • Religion and Gays

My daughter came out 15 years after being married for 15 years to a Southern Baptist preachers kid. I’d already quit attending church after divorcing my first husband and the way I was treated by the other wives my age. This podcast was painful to listen as a mother of a gay child. Although she is 50 now, I still want to protect her from hurt and harm. The fish/ religion quote touched my heart.

Deconstructing without Losing Faith (kind of)
Q: How can one navigate deconstructing their beliefs without losing faith?
One can navigate deconstruction by recognizing problematic teachings, engaging with various sources, and allowing personal experiences to inform their beliefs.
No Historical Evidence that Jesus Existed?
Q: What would you tell people that claim there is no historical evidence that Jesus existed?
There are various criteria historians use to assess the existence of historical figures, including textual evidence, external attestations, and archaeological findings. While there is a lack of contemporaneous evidence, the combination of early Christian texts and non-Christian references suggests Jesus was indeed a historical figure.
Does Jesus say people are going to Hell and Do I Have to Believe in the Bible to Believe in God?
Q: Is it okay to believe in God without really believing in everything in the Bible?
Yes, it's okay to believe in God without adhering to every detail in the Bible, as spiritual beliefs are ultimately a choice.
Does Jesus say people are going to Hell and Do I Have to Believe in the Bible to Believe in God?
Q: Is it written anywhere in the Bible that Jesus said those who do not follow him will be condemned to eternity in hell?
No, there is no clear scripture where Jesus explicitly states that those who do not follow him will be condemned to eternity in hell. Many interpretations of biblical passages are misleading.
Progressive Youth Ministry?
Q: How should doubts be approached in youth ministry?
Doubts should be welcomed and engaged, rather than pushed away or ignored, to foster healthy spiritual growth.
