Christians argue fiercely about the literal details of Jesus’ birth—even though the Bible never gives a date and early believers didn’t agree on one. In this episode, we look at how December 25 emerges from theology, symbolism, and later church decis... more

Forget the “it’s pagan” nonsense. The Christmas tree’s story is far wilder: a pope’s missionary memo, a bishop with an axe, medieval theater kids hauling evergreens onstage, and Victorian influencers turning it viral. We dig into how this mash-up of ... more

I just found you on TikTok, and so happy that I did. I’ve been feeling lost as a Christian who is a Progressive. You mentioned being progressive and Christian in America is just at about 18%, and I feel that. I’m happy to know there’s a dedicated voice out here for us, it’s a strange and dark time we are going through.
I have so appreciated Jeremy’s approach to scripture as he a presents nuanced, historical framework for understanding the Bible with depth and humility.
My daughter came out 15 years after being married for 15 years to a Southern Baptist preachers kid. I’d already quit attending church after divorcing my first husband and the way I was treated by the other wives my age. This podcast was painful to listen as a mother of a gay child. Although she is 50 now, I still want to protect her from hurt and harm. The fish/ religion quote touched my heart.
Jeremy’s podcast has helped me work through all aspects of my deconstruction, helping me find spiritual beliefs that work for me. Thanks, Jeremy!
Jeremy and his guests help me answer questions and make peace with my feelings about religion.
