  • New Listener

A friend recommend the podcast this week after we were “debating” where we land on issues. The Sept 12 show, “Suspension of the Rules,” was especially poignant. I just shared the episode via my socials encouraging my friends to take the time to listen. I’ve only listened to three episodes so far and not sure you’re my “type,” but I think you are.

  • Refreshing Balance

I appreciate this podcast for its calm delivery, well-considered viewpoints, and refreshing balance. Maybe I appreciate it because I share many of their views; but I’m pretty conservative politically and still walk away grateful I listened.

  • Not the “best arguments”

I have listened to many episodes hoping the show would provide insights that transcend politics or help me understand diverse political positions. But the content feels no more than an AI search and opinion pieces. And the opinion piece today - I think by Isaac - was too much. An emotional diatribe on political violence when we know NOTHING about who the shooter is or why they did it? Isn’t the whole point of this podcast to not make assumptions? To not jump to conclusions? Of you want to talk ... more

  • Scared

Thank you and your team for battling through the fear and real possibility of violence to keep the conversation going. In a world where many folks think they and their political party are the only voice of truth, and chose violence or support violence to silence their opponents, it’s important to face our fears and stand up against that choice. I’m on the left, scared for the future of our planet and all its life forms, but I’m trying hard to listen to the right and find a way to bridge what see... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

As states adopt phone bans, a debate emerges on what to do next.
Q: How big of a deal is this International Court of Justice, or ICJ, advisory opinion on climate change?
The ICJ advisory opinion states that climate change represents a global existential threat, obligating countries to act responsibly in protecting the environment. While the ruling holds significant moral weight, its enforcement remains limited due to state sovereignty, particularly impacting the current U.S. administration's approach to climate action.
Charlie Kirk's suspected shooter is apprehended.
Q: What can you do to be a source of inspiration to either one person or a whole community?
You can put yourself out there first and try to be as supportive as you can for someone, and it will come back to you.
SPECIAL EDITION: Interview with witness of Charlie Kirk shooting.
Q: How did you sleep last night? What was it like waking up this morning? And how has the day after been for you?
I couldn't sleep until about 4 a.m. because of the terror I felt from the shooting. Despite the chaos, I tried to act normal, but it was frustrating to see others around me acting like nothing happened.
SPECIAL EDITION: Interview with witness of Charlie Kirk shooting.
Q: Have you debriefed at all with your friends who were there with you? And if you have, what have you guys been talking about in the past day?
Yes, we met up at one of our friend's houses and talked about the shooting. Two of my friends who saw Charlie get shot were in shock, and we all tried to cope in our own ways, looking for news updates.
The debate over physician-assisted suicide.
Q: What other two issues do you think are most critical?
Isaac discusses gerrymandering as a critical issue and mentions immigration and affordable housing as his number two and three issues.
