Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

George Kutnerian, Co-Founder and CEO, Wellpointe Inc.
Q: In what ways do you think the industry must continue to evolve, and what is your outlook for the small home model?
The industry must continue to build platform-level solutions that scale, with Wellpointe confident in the small home model's growth potential and ability to attract capital, drive efficiency, and deliver affordable, person-centered care at scale.
George Kutnerian, Co-Founder and CEO, Wellpointe Inc.
Q: What industry technology trends are you paying attention to, and why is technology essential to the business model going forward?
Technological change is essential to stay competitive; the industry should shift from asset buying to platform-building, leveraging enterprise platforms, AI-assisted workflows, and in-house incubation through Wellpointe Labs to drive scale with quality and personalization.
George Kutnerian, Co-Founder and CEO, Wellpointe Inc.
Q: Why HUD financing? Why is pursuing HUD a priority and how does it fit with Wellpointe's growth and risk management?
HUD provides long-term, fixed-rate, fully amortizing financing at a relatively low cost of capital, serving as a reliable takeout that de-risks bridge debt and unlocks more institutional debt flow to the small home model and Wellpointe as sponsor.
George Kutnerian, Co-Founder and CEO, Wellpointe Inc.
Q: How would you describe Wellpointe's priorities for this year, and what areas of operations are you most focused on in 2026?
The company aims to finish last year's 114 new units and reach 95% stabilized occupancy by August 2026, while expanding a large active pipeline and building out a dedicated community outreach team to fuel scalable sales across markets.
Chris Hollister, CEO, Pegasus Senior Living
Q: What trends in staffing and care are you watching for 2026, and how might they shape Pegasus' approach?
Labor shortages, especially for nurses, driver higher costs and complexity; Pegasus is leaning into stronger rehab partnerships, AI-driven business intelligence, and improved on-site leadership to maintain care quality amid growth.
