  • Good CRE podcast

Good CRE podcast... but with a politically conservative bias.

Interview regarding tariffs was not nonpartisan. Shame because that guest is knowledgeable and used to be one of my favorites, and now seems predictable and with a political agenda to push.

  • Great podcast!

This podcast offers insights into real estate trends through discussions with industry experts, like John D'Angelo from Deloitte, who provide clarity on the sector's direction. From it, I gathered that the 2024 real estate forecast is mainly negative due to the Federal Reserve's rapid rate increases.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Multifamily Market Outlook 2026: Trends, Opportunities & Risks with Chief Economist Carl Whitaker
Q: What are the expectations for interest rates and their impact on deals this year?
Rates are expected to stay relatively stable, which helps deal-making; however, the trajectory remains uncertain and depends on inflation, with a potential for hawkish shifts if inflation lingers.
Multifamily Market Outlook 2026: Trends, Opportunities & Risks with Chief Economist Carl Whitaker
Q: How are Class A, B, and C performances diverging and what drives those differences?
Class A remains the most resilient due to location, rent levels, and stronger demand, while Class C faces more pressure from higher inflation and weaker rent growth; Class B sits between them and often reflects the slower job growth in blue-collar sectors and migration patterns.
Multifamily Market Outlook 2026: Trends, Opportunities & Risks with Chief Economist Carl Whitaker
Q: What do you see when you look at multifamily performance across the country?
Overall demand has been fairly strong over the past couple of years, with a recent stabilization in some markets; however, uncertainty remains due to labor, geopolitics, and post-peak supply adjustments, so outcomes for 2026 could vary widely by market and class.
Commercial Real Estate Debt Market 2026 with Xander Snyder
Q: What should lenders and borrowers expect as the market moves into the new cycle?
Expect increasing competition among lenders, looser terms in some cases, more willingness to recognize impairments and redeploy capital, and a need for solid underwriting that factors in higher energy costs and potential demand shocks.
Commercial Real Estate Debt Market 2026 with Xander Snyder
Q: What is the current status of the maturity wall and extensions in CRE debt?
The maturity wall has been grinding through, with a decline in scheduled maturities and fewer extensions year-over-year, signaling a gradual resolution and a shift toward more active restructuring and new capital entering the market.
