I've decided to read J.R.R. Tolkien's epic 'The Lord of the Rings' for my partner, who has never read the books. As this wonderful piece of art has influenced me in countless ways, I can't imagine a world (Middle Earth, or otherwise) without it. So, I thought I'd try and raise some money for those struggling to make their own magic due to the coronavirus outbreak!

It’s the best l.o.t.r. Audio book I’ve listened to.
David Yates, would u please tell me who sang tom bombadill’s song?
David Yates made the second best audio adaptation of the lord of the rings of all time if he had completed it(behind the BBC Audio Drama) but sadly I gotta put him at number 3 behind barrel rider. Still Yates made an absolutely fantastic piece of art!
So often narrated books are impossible to listen to simple because the reader is grating to the nerves. Mr. Yates, however, has a lively voice and manner of reading. There are surprisingly delightful renditions of the songs, as well. My only disappointment is that he doesn’t have any more stories for me to listen to.
Please do other books !
I enjoyed these so much! I was riveted to the story, even though I’ve read the story several times. Dave Yates does an excellent job, and how can I not support a charity in honor of this gift to us all? Thank you, Dave!
Really good, does lots of different voices and sings the songs in all sorts of different melodies that remind me of old Irish songs. The only thing that helps me sleep now! I hope more episodes come out :/
Amazing. I wish there were the other two books.
I have loved listening to this read through! Dave has great character voices and a great singing voice too. I haven’t seen any new episodes come out though and I pray you’re still working on this project. What happened???
I’m slowly reading through the books myself but sometimes I take long breaks when reading books and have trouble picking the story back up. Fellowship of the Ring was no different unfortunately. So I searched for a way to sort of catch me back up and found this podcast and I was very pleased with the reading. Mr. Yates does a great job making the characters his own in a way and that’s just what I was looking for as it’s tough for me to sort of separate the written story from the movie performan... more
Love the voices. Surprisingly high production quality for a podcast.
What a fun reading of the Lord of the Rings! Production is at times imperfect, but the team's contagious love of their art makes this reading more engaging and enjoyable than commercial alternatives. Highly binge-able and well worth a listen. Thanks to the creators for their enthusiasm and hard work!
This podcast brings me so much joy. I have always wanted to read Lord of the Rings but literally never have time. Now I can just listen whenever I want plus the narrators voice, commitment, and energy absolutely shines and makes the reading a million times more enjoyable. Plus it’s nice to know this is to keep a little bit of magic alive in a world that seems very dark currently. Amazing podcast and concept have loved every chapter.
