  • Flippant, Arrogant & Condescending

This podcast is like an 80’s after school special of polo shirt wearing white rich kids othering their poor classmates from the polo lounge. A divorce attorney who is not divorced or the child of divorce talks with flatlined emotion and makes fun of her clients. Qualified of course because her dad is also an attorney. Gawd love the arrogance of legacy kids. Good for you Liz, you got freedom and had an ex you could trust with your kids, but how dare you condescend with a pithy one-liner about the... more

  • Stuck up

I would love to support another feminist in Iowa, but Lyz isn’t a very nice person . Iowa’s not that big, and rudeness doesn’t get you very far with the people in your community. I like what she speaks about, but it’s hard to buy in when she behaves like a mean girl.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

This American Ex-Wife S2 Ep8: Rebecca Woolf
Q: What would you say to someone who enjoys low-commitment sex after divorce but now feels exhausted?
It's a universal experience; many women experience exhaustion from dating apps and the challenges of casual encounters. It's important to communicate needs and consider meeting in real life instead.
This American Ex-Wife S2 Ep9: Laura Benitez
Q: How did that anger help launch you into your music career after your divorce?
The anger from the breakup freed me from fear and pushed me to put myself out there and pursue music with confidence.
This American Ex-Wife S2 Ep9: Laura Benitez
Q: Will you talk to me about how, like what do you feel like country music speaks to when you hear a country music love song or breakup song?
Country music tells very specific and brutally honest stories that are relatable and speak to real experiences with emotion rather than artifice.
This American Ex-Wife S2 Ep4: Rhaina Cohen
Q: What are some of those right questions to ask when considering co-living arrangements?
One valuable question is to imagine things going wrong before they happen—a kind of pre-mortem. This helps to share fears and prevent issues proactively.
This American Ex-Wife S2 Ep2: Dan Savage
Q: What did being at the forefront of the fight for marriage equality teach you about American society and how we view this institution of marriage?
It taught me that we have built our society around the social construct of marriage, defining who gets rights and access, which shows how deeply ingrained it is in our political structure.
