Trish Parker and Jaedyn Kelly – Express Employment Professionals/Arctic Cat
Q: How many hours a week are Workampers expected to work?
The standard schedule is about 48 hours per week, with 410 shifts; assembly runs Monday through Thursday and painting has different start times, but both include lodging options and the potential for overtime.
Sharon Flynn – Guard 1 Services
Q: Tell us a little about Guard 1 Services and how it utilizes work campers.
Guard 1 Services recruits RV couples and some solos to guard petroleum gates; couples typically work 24-7 split shifts with 12 hours each, and solos work 12-hour shifts with more limited housing; the company funds most licensing and background checks while applicants cover minor upfront costs. The role is year-round, with opportunities across multiple gates, and involves monitoring traffic and ensuring secure access for trucks and vehicles.
Glenn Tucker – Workamping near Acadia National Park
Q: How long does it take for you to make a hiring decision?
We advertise starting in July, collect resumes for about six weeks, begin interviewing in mid-August, and aim to wrap up the process by early to mid-fall for the upcoming season.
Glenn Tucker – Workamping near Acadia National Park
Q: What types of jobs do you hire Workampers to do?
We hire a range of roles including customer service, bike shop, kayak guiding, shuttle driving, and some driving positions that require towing; many positions are cross-trained so staff can switch between tasks.
Jessie Watters – Workamping with family in Alaska
Q: Is Alaska year-round possible for you?
There is a good chance they could stay year-round if opportunities align, with Alaska feeling like home.
