  • Annoying

80% annoying FM radio morning show style DJ banter. 20% actual good advice and content. Just listen to “Rich Habits” or “Bigger Pockets Money” or something if you want personal finance advice without a bunch of wacky voices, Star Wars trivia, and your-mom jokes.

  • Never on repeat!!

Joe and OG are true veterans of personal finance education! You can tell they’ve been at this for a while because they take topics that MIGHT be found on other podcasts, but they present it all with new angles that always makes sense. They even put up with Doug!!!

  • Could barely get through 1 episode

I tried listening to this show because I listen to Paula’s. I could barely get through one episode. I find it filled with so much unnecessary weird jokes and sound effects. It’s so beyond cheesy and I just can’t take it seriously whatsoever.

I do not have an addictive personality. However, I have to admit I have been constantly needing a Stacking Benjamins fix on the regular and this is All Your Fault, Doug!

Since discovering your podcast, I have opened a VTSAX account, started a Roth IRA, and shored up my emergency fund to provide me 6 months worth of expenses.

I know I have a ways to go and wanted to speak with someone from OG’s firm (because OG is my favorite. Sorry, Doug.) Unfortunately, Bannerman Wealth only deals with “Gen ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

When Money Rules Don't Match Real Life (Your Questions!) SB1814
Q: Shane's question about why funds split their shares and whether it has long-term benefits.
OG explains that splits are primarily an optics/psychology tactic to make price points feel more accessible, with no change to total value; fund providers use splits to differentiate themselves in a crowded market.
When Money Rules Don't Match Real Life (Your Questions!) SB1814
Q: Michael's question about inflation adjustments to retirement goals and how often to update plans.
They suggest revisiting plans periodically (every year or every five years), accounting for inflation, changing life circumstances, and ensuring the target retirement spending reflects current conditions; regular reviews help maintain a realistic plan and reduce anxiety about market volatility.
When Money Rules Don't Match Real Life (Your Questions!) SB1814
Q: Tyler's question about whether the savings rate matters and how OG would calculate it.
The panel explains that savings rate should be evaluated in the context of whether it helps reach personal goals; the absolute percentage is less important than progress toward those goals, and small, automated increases can steadily improve outcomes.
Building Courage One Small Step at a Time SB1810
Q: What was the turning point that shifted Jen Drummond's approach to life after the 2018 accident?
She realized surrender is a sign of strength, which reshaped her mindset and enabled her to pursue bold, life-changing goals, including climbing major peaks.
Around the World in 80 Days: The Travel Mindset That Makes Retirement Bigger (SB1811)
Q: Can you speak briefly about the DARE method and the idea of reframing retirement?
George explains that the DARE method stands for courage to un-retire, as retirement often shifts identity; travel acts as a catalyst to reshape perspective, and the aim is to guide people to reinvent themselves and embrace new possibilities.
