First part of podcast focused on the "number" and the 4% rule. People automatically calculate what income they need using the 4% rule and the "number". But it does branch out to to very interesting topics that are not always discussed. BTW traveling is not always an effectve way to rejuvenate as you get older. Roth investments are fine if you have a 20 year or so timeline and if you are in 24% or less bracket. Thanks for not using the word trope.

  • Mostly good

I really enjoy the episodes with Joe but don’t love most of the interviews. I’m not sure why. Maybe because they are so long.

Q&A LIVE from Texas A&M Texarkana
Q: What are a few common money mistakes college and grad students should avoid now that I'm still in school?
Common mistakes include spending too much and getting into debt, relying on credit cards with high interest, taking too much financial aid refunds, and assuming discipline alone suffices rather than building systems and automation to save and invest.
Q&A LIVE from Texas A&M Texarkana
Q: What is the safer investment strategy among stocks, IRAs/401Ks, or gold and silver?
They explain IRA/401K as tax-advantaged accounts with rules about withdrawal age, advise against trying to pick individual stocks, and recommend broad market index funds for long-term growth, due to diversification and the difficulty of beating the market.
Q&A LIVE from Texas A&M Texarkana
Q: My question is in regards to the passion versus paycheck versus peace trade-off. How can a student in their early 20s determine which trade-off is truly worthwhile without looking back 10 years later with regrets?
The hosts suggest focusing on curiosity first, not just passion, and using the curiosity loop to guide career choices. They emphasize building autonomy, mastery, and purpose in work, while also considering practical constraints like marketable skills and potential for growth.
Q&A: The Case for NOT Paying Off Your Student Loans
Q: Can we expense all purchases for the house like furniture in proportion to rental usage?
Yes, expenses that are shared get prorated based on rental vs personal days; fully deductible items include platform fees, management fees, and cleaning tied to turnover. Maintain meticulous records and depreciation schedules.
Q&A: The Case for NOT Paying Off Your Student Loans
Q: Hi Paula, my wife and I are retired and in our early 70s. Should we have the Airbnb business under an LLC or S corporation?
Set up a simple LLC to segregate Airbnb finances and maintain separate bookkeeping; an S-Corp election isn't usually necessary for a single lower-revenue property unless revenue is very high. Keep clear records, track personal vs rental use, and use a dedicated entity to keep finances clean.
