Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hijacking Viruses: Optimizing Lentivirus-Based Cell Engineering
Q: If someone came to you for advice on how to improve their lentiviral infections, what would you tell them?
I would advise to rethink every variable and procedure in the process. Science and technology are constantly evolving so thinking methodically can lead to better results.
Synthetic Screens, Genes, and De Novo Proteins: Multiplexed Gene Fragments Drive De Novo Protein Design
Q: Could you explain how your protein design and test cycle generally works?
The cycle involves computational modeling, ordering DNA sequences, expressing them as proteins, and conducting binding assays to evaluate their effectiveness.
Synthetic Screens, Genes, and De Novo Proteins: Multiplexed Gene Fragments Drive De Novo Protein Design
Q: What benefits do the TWIST Bioscience OligoPools provide in your research?
The OligoPools allow synthesis of large numbers of DNA sequences efficiently, improving control over the sequences used in experiments.
Synthetic Screens, Genes, and De Novo Proteins: Multiplexed Gene Fragments Drive De Novo Protein Design
Q: What interests you about this field, and how do you go about designing proteins?
Jeffrey discusses the fascinating properties of natural proteins and the aim to understand them well enough to create new artificial proteins from scratch.
Synthetic Screens, Genes, and De Novo Proteins: Training AI Models with More Sequence Diversity to Improve Hits
Q: If you could synthesize DNA of any length and any complexity, what would you build?
A synthetic delivery vehicle or 'nanobot' capable of delivering complex molecular cargos to specific tissues.
