  • Great Info, Guests. Terrible Music

Like so many podcasts, this one is close to being excellent. The information and storytelling are great. The guests are experts with something to say and expertise to back it up. But the music. It’s incongruent, wildly varying, and distracting. I checked to see if there is some why to turn music on podcasts off. Why is it so hard for podcasters to select even okay music? I’ve produced a podcast, so I know how much goes into it, but finding a sample of something or even making something takes jus... more

  • Outstanding scholarship and research

Mr. Houle does an outstanding job in his scholarly research, presentation and storytelling.

I teach U.S. history at the college level, and I assign my students episodes of The Salem Witch Trials Podcast as an introduction to the topic. Mr. Houle provides context, he humanizes accused and accusers, and he delivers the information in a succinct and digestible format.

I recommend this podcast to anyone who desires to understand the underlying and multiple causes of the New England witch tri... more

  • For the love of God, stop with the music.

Would be SO much better without the weirdly upbeat background music. It’s jarring and makes me feel like I’m listening to a YouTube video with an AI-generated voice rambling on about ancient aliens instead of a pretty decent history pod.
