I find Daisy Eagan’s podcast style refreshing and look forward to them when they drop. I’ve been listening to Strange and Unexplained since she first started the series. To be fair, not all the topics covered interest me, but I enjoy Daisy’s humorous reactions to the stories she is telling. I even find myself quoting her “Not today, Bob!”
Okay, Anthony “Tony Jack”Giacalone’s nickname came from his last name pronounciation. Phoeneticly, it’s Jack-ah-low-knee.
This could be such a wonderful podcast but the negativity of the host is contagious - It feels like Daisy is constantly angry about something and it is off-putting to the listener :( but do press play if you are feeling peeved!
Interesting topics and discussions, worth a listen. My only negative comment is that if you are going to proclaim yourself to be someone who speaks out about social justice issues you have to be willing to listen and learn otherwise it is performative. Her defensive reaction to people trying to inform her on diabetics was a bit jarring. The idea that eating too much sugar causes diabetes is not only factually incorrect but rooted in fat phobia. I find myself wondering what I’m listening to after 30 some odd minutes into the podcast. I think she does a great job, I feel like the vibe has changed somewhat lately. Can’t pinpoint it but it’s not the same when she first started. Better? I can’t totally agree.
