This is a good show but I would change one thing ... It gets grating and difficult to listen to when there are 3 or more ladies and they all talk over each other. You can’t hear what they are saying so it is to their detriment because we don’t hear the points they are making, just a bunch of chattering. I am interested in what they have to say, so I wish they would give each other space to finish speaking before jumping in over each other.

  • An instant favorite!

I found the Lady Killers through the Losers’ Club pod, of which I have been an enthusiastic member for several years now. Ever since my first Lady K episode (Fargo), I was instantly hooked! Jen, Sammie, Mae & Rocco have great banter and always bring new, refreshing perspectives to the films I’ve always loved. It’s been such a blast revisiting these movies for the first time as an adult woman and I truly find myself gaining copious amounts of insight from this group on various topics and themes a... more

  • Fun back catalogue but new eps disappointing?

Love the dynamics and discussions of the back catalogue, covers a great range of mainstream and deep cut movies; but catching a few recent eps it seems the presenter line up has changed, and the new 4 talk over each other in a way that’s confusing and hard to follow (maybe it’s a change in editor too?)

  • Lady Killers 2.0 Offers a Deeper Analysis of Gender Issues

Apple appears to have deleted my previous review…but that’s okay, the Lady Killers have evolved. I think the term “Lady Killers” is a bit of an oversimplification for what this podcast offers. Sure it centers on a cinematic female-identifying killer every week, but the typically two-hour show offers a lot more nuance for those who care to listen and aren’t afraid to confront some of the darker veins running through our society. The three hosts and occasional guest star leverage their seemingly u... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Hostel: Part II (2007)
Q: How does Hostel Part II shift the horror gaze compared to the first film?
The panel agrees that the sequel shifts focus from male victims to female protagonists, using their vulnerability and wealth to subvert traditional torture-porn dynamics and critique misogyny.
The Woman in Black (2012)
Q: What do you think is the scariest part?
That time that the lie girl appears is the most troubling as it showed the crippling dread of impending doom.
The Woman in Black (2012)
Q: What's your story with The Woman in Black?
I saw it in theaters when it first came out and I thought it was excellent gothic horror.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) with Julia Marchese
Q: So Julia, what is your story with Sweeney Todd and what's your favorite song?
Sweeney Todd is very important to me actually because I grew up, I was in a children's theater group growing up and then I went to performing arts high school, so musical theater was a big part of my school life.
Curtains (1983) with Joe Lipsett
Q: What is your story with Curtains?
Joe explains his long-term relationship with the film, its charm, and how it acts as a starting point for understanding Canadian horror films.
