The conversations between Sean and Amanda are repetitive and adversarial and obnoxious. What has happened to this podcast.

  • Great show

Great show. But less Wesley Morris please. Really grating personality. Interruptive. Not funny. Not particularly insightful. Sort of sabotaged the alternative Oscars episode.

  • Need a Wesley Morris intervention

He may be a great writer/critic, but as a podcaster, yikes. Mr Morris is too ponderous, often inaudible/mumbling, and seems all too happy to dominate the conversation. I wanted to hear y’all’s takes on the recent Actor awards, but not enough to trudge through three hours of Wesley’s off-the-dome takes.

The Steven Spielberg Conversation
Q: What aspect of storytelling keeps you motivated after decades of making films?
I can't imagine not telling stories; parenting and family have become central, and the process of discovery with each project—whether personal like The Fablemans or collaborative like Disclosure Day—keeps me motivated.
The Steven Spielberg Conversation
Q: You're known for the way you map blocking and action from storyboard to set. Could you walk us through your process from planning to performance?
It depends on the film; heavy VFX films require thorough pre-visualization, but I also enjoy times when I have little planning and let acting and intuition guide the day, collaborating closely with the cast to tell the story best.
The Oscar Hangover Mailbag. Plus: ‘Dune: Part Three’ Is Coming!
Q: Do you think Conan should host again next year, or who would you replace him with?
They express openness to Conan returning, with Kumail Nanjiani and John Mulaney as potential alternatives, noting Kumail's strong performance at DGAs and Mulaney's demand and talent for hosting big shows.
The Oscar Hangover Mailbag. Plus: ‘Dune: Part Three’ Is Coming!
Q: Our first mailbag question is brought to you by Volkswagen. Is Timothée Chalamet going to be okay? Will he be nominated for Dune Part Three?
Yes, it seems likely he will be fine and remains a strong candidate for a nomination in Dune Part Three.
The Final Best Picture Power Rankings and a ‘Sinners’ Second Look With Autumn Durald Arkapaw!
Q: How did you approach lighting different skin tones?
I enjoy lighting multiple skin types sensitively, understanding that darker skin tones have reflective qualities that need to be championed rather than over-lit to be effective visually.
