  • When will you talk about movies?

Listened to this podcast since the beginning and am, or was, a fan of the ringer, but I don’t think I can continue listening. They don’t really talk about movies. They somehow talk forever yet say nothing. After two hours of listening to them, I really don’t have a sense of the movie. They spend so much time talking about themselves then when they get to the movie, they basically just say good or bad and then say that they couldn’t possibly talk about it without spoiling the ending which they th... more

  • Do much better

Occasionally a great podcast. A little diversity of opinion would help a lot. Who knew a podcast empire that grew out of a love of sports would be staffed entirely with communist-sympathizers? Simmons seems like he’s just going through the motions to placate the people who surround him.

  • Snobby and unfunny

Listen to my podcast instead (The Franchise). Clearly way better than this. Wish I was friends with Bill Simmons so I could get away with this week after week.

  • Ads getting crazy

I LOVE this Sean and Amanda's discussions about films, but these ads are insane! I'm listening on Apple pod, and there were ads at 1min30secs, then again at 4min30secs. PLEASE do a better job of placing ads at regular intervals. Cutting off a convo after random sentences MINUTES apart is an awful experience

  • Remember that your listeners are normal people

Great podcast. But sometimes the hosts get so caught up in the discussion, they forget that there’s an audience and that audience is not as cinematically literate as them. They often make references without explaining them or why they are significant. No I don’t know why Perfidia is such a perfect name. If Chase Infiniti does not get the joke behind Sisterhood of the Brave Beaver, neither do I.

Best Picture Power Rankings and The Rock’s Oscar Bid in ‘The Smashing Machine,’ with Benny Safdie!
Q: How do you approach getting the cinematic language for MMA fighting?
I used a respect for the sport, aiming for realism without altering how the fights were executed, focusing on capturing the essence.
Best Picture Power Rankings and The Rock’s Oscar Bid in ‘The Smashing Machine,’ with Benny Safdie!
Q: What does it feel like for Benny to have won the Silver Lion?
It feels crazy; it's something he never imagined would happen and feels surreal to be a part of such a significant festival.
‘One Battle After Another’ Is a Modern Masterpiece, With Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Thomas Anderson!
Q: Why the decision to set it right now?
In a practical way, it would be nice to just walk into the street and shoot a movie without worrying about being a period film. I had kids that were becoming teenagers, which pushed the story into its contemporary setting, and it became essential to the narrative.
