PLEASE lose Julia from the Welcome to Derry episodes. She wont stop complaining about every single aspect of every episode so far. And in response to her gripe about “How is Pennywise the car!?” from the beginning of episode 1, I’d refer her to zombie Belch Huggins picking up Henry Bowers in a Plymouth Fury from the NOVEL. The Pennywise “rules” that she’s attempting to apply are far too stringent, especially when she’s forgetting things from the book which correspond directly to her complaints a... more
Enjoy the podcast. Just wanted to mention that the Hanlons’ death in the recent movies wasn’t because they were carelessly using drugs or even addicts. It was just a vile rumor. I think it’s even implied they were victims of a fire set by racists, as Henry says he sad he couldn’t have been a part of the setting of the fire in It Chapter One. I don’t think the Hanlons are different from who they are portrayed to be later, I think we’re meant to see both the cruelty of the town and to see what mak... more
I came looking for coverage for Welcome to Derry. So in the spirit of fairness, I’m not familiar with their other coverage. It was just ok. They spent a lot of time bashing it and the recent adaptations. There are other pods out there that spend more time recapping and lore than complaining.
I drive a lot for work and really enjoy listening to this podcast. I enjoy the format of friends talking, and I really enjoy the episodes with wildly different opinions of the book (the Tommyknockers was a fun read and I love that Randall isn’t afraid to like what he likes!)
I do tend to skip parts of King’s Dominion as I am reading King’s books in order and I’m on Wolves of the Calla, and this section can have a lot of spoilers.
P.S.- the negative reviews here because of politics crack me u... more
I love this podcast. It’s hosted by a great group of people with diverse views and opinions. It feels like a group of friends talking about books and rarely ever gets pretentious, like a lot bookish podcasts do. It’s a fun escape from the real world. If you’re just getting into it, there’s a great back catalog to catch up on. The only thing I don’t love about this podcast is the theme song. It’s catchy enough but the word “precludes” in a pop song? No. lol. And the subject matter of it? Not sure... more
