  • Deal the pretentiousness

There are some nice discussions to be heard if you can grit your teeth and bear the pretentious “people we know” moments in every episode and interview.

  • Decent

I’ve given the show another chance and I like it a lot better now than when I first heard it. Sadly, I heard Marc Bernardin’s voice on the most recent episode and simply deleted that episode. His race views ruined Kevin Smith. Everything always comes down to race with him and he exercises reverse racism to praise incompetence or denounce talent based on race and not the actual talent itself. I unsubscribed to Kevin Smith’s podcast after I couldn’t take it anymore and deleted the most recent epis... more

  • Spoiler

I like this show. One problem is that Elric cannot stop spoiling movies. He’ll say “I don’t want to spoil it but-“ and then do just that. Never tell people there’s a crazy plot twist. Once you know that you’ll see the clues.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S3 Ep122: Dark Obsessions
Q: What inspired your connective tissue of nature in Greener Pastures and October Film Haunt?
Wehunt explains that nature serves as a living character and a grounding force; the connective tissue emerged from an organic process of image- or 'what-if' moments, with the woods acting as a pervasive, sometimes benevolent, backdrop that can become menacing depending on context.
S3 Ep119: Faces of Death
Q: How much research did you do about online content and trends, given how central TikTok and virality are to the story?
Issa and I immersed in the current social media landscape, with the project evolving as algorithms and short-form content evolved; the approach aimed to be authentic to how people consume content today.
S3 Ep119: Faces of Death
Q: How did you decide to structure the film around the Faces of Death property and make it feel like a meta within a slasher?
We treated the film as a slasher remake that exists inside the world of the original, using modern platform dynamics and the attention economy to justify the meta framing and the decision to show real-sounding footage in a controlled way.
S3 Ep119: Faces of Death
Q: How did you become involved in Faces of Death project originally?
Issa and I were approached by Legendary, explored the original, and saw a natural fit for a content-m moderator thriller; the idea clicked and they moved forward with development.
S3 Ep117: Partially Devoured
Q: What inspired you to write Partially Devoured as a blend of Romero history and personal memoir?
Dan Kraus explains that the book started as a side project born from curiosity and grew into a deeply personal exploration of how Night of the Living Dead shaped his life, then expanded to include documentary-style analysis of the Image 10 and the Romero-Russo dynamic.
