  • Spoke to a Bloke (Simon Whitmore)

Just listened to the episode with Simon and it reduced me to tears some sad but mostly of pride of how far he’s come since his moment of crisis. Freddie did a wonderful job hosting such a delicate and raw topic and hope this helps others going through something similar to Simon. Thank you both ❤️

JCIP #361 - Jenny Tomei
Q: What factors during university and the onset of the eating disorder do you think contributed most to your ED?
She attributes a combination of change, bullying in first-year, underlying dyslexia, and a forced transition to training and perfectionism pressures, which culminated in significant weight loss and an ED.
JCIP #361 - Jenny Tomei
Q: Take me back to early life, teenage years and looking back, were there any early mental health experiences?
Jenny explains a generally positive upbringing but notes anxiety began in late secondary school, intensified by academic pressure and a later transition to university where new stressors contributed to an eating disorder.
JCIP #359 - Kenny Bartonshaw
Q: How has Headspace FC influenced your approach to mental health and community building for men?
The conversation emphasizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health for men; Headspace FC offers multiple pathways—games, social events, and broader community activities—to help men connect, feel a sense of belonging, and support each other's well-being.
