  • Great content!

Holly Pivec is tackling a very needed issue—the frightening lack of discernment in Christians. I’m eager to hear more! I’d give this 5 stars except that she sounds like she’s reading from a book; monotone and a bit unnatural. But it’s just the first episode, so I’m sure that will improve. Great content from a great thinker!

  • Love Holly!

I am so excited to listen to this podcast. Holly’s books are amazing and actually accurate so I’m sure this will be too! Growing up in NAR teachings, Holly hits the nail on the head with her analyses every time. I pray God would use this podcast to open the eyes of so many who are deceived.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP32 | How False Teachings Damage Your Mental Health: A Biblical Perspective
Q: What role does subjective feeling play in spiritual health?
Feelings are important but must be evaluated against objective truth; a sound mind comes from aligning feelings with biblical truth and practicing self-discipline.
EP32 | How False Teachings Damage Your Mental Health: A Biblical Perspective
Q: How does false teaching specifically affect mental health?
False teachings can drive guilt, shame, anxiety, and hopelessness by presenting impossible standards and shifting hope onto fallible leaders, which destabilizes a person's sense of truth and worth.
EP32 | How False Teachings Damage Your Mental Health: A Biblical Perspective
Q: What distinguishes Biblical counselors from pastors or secular therapists?
Mark explains that Biblical counselors rely primarily on Scripture as the sufficient authority, focusing on heart-work and equipping believers through God's Word rather than secular theories.
EP31 | Prophecy or Prop: How Magicians Replicate Modern "Miracles"
Q: What is the practical approach listeners should take when they encounter seemingly miraculous claims in church settings?
Listeners should demand transparent explanations of methods, look for the four natural forces as baseline explanations before labeling something miraculous, and seek corroboration from scripture rather than relying on personal impressions. Challenging claims with controlled demonstrations and healthy skepticism helps prevent misinterpretation and manipulation.
EP31 | Prophecy or Prop: How Magicians Replicate Modern "Miracles"
Q: Do you think Pharaoh's magicians actually had real supernatural power, or were they replicating tricks?
I think they were likely magicians who could perform convincing feats within the natural world, and their ability to imitate certain aspects of Moses' signs was used to challenge or test faith rather than demonstrate true power from God or demons. This aligns with my broader view that many so-called miracles are signs that point to a higher reality but are not necessarily miracles in the biblical sense.
