Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mailbag Friday: Demons, Gambling, Abortion Regret
Q: Are altar calls biblical, and do they lead to true salvation?
Altar calls are not presented as biblical requirements; salvation is through the Holy Spirit, and altar calls can sometimes produce false conversions. The emphasis is on inward faith and genuine repentance rather than a public ritual.
Donald Trump, Chaos in Culture, & Theo Von
Q: How should Christians respond when confronted with violence carried out by someone who identifies as a Christian?
Reject the act as unchristian, affirm that true Christianity calls for submission to government and a witness to Christ, not vigilantism.
Mailbag Friday: Deaconesses, Signs From The Dead, & Pastor Dance-Off
Q: Is it biblically acceptable for a woman to serve and act like a deacon if the office is reserved for men?
A woman can serve in servant roles, but Todd emphasizes that the office of deacon is reserved for men, suggesting we use a different title for female servants to avoid confusion about church offices.
Mailbag Friday: Women Deacons, Heavenly Tourism, & Gentle Parenting
Q: Anna is wondering, are there good parenting resources that combat gentle parenting and encourage healthy biblical parenting?
The host condemns gentle parenting as problematic, recommends classic biblical parenting works such as Shepherding a Child's Heart, and suggests balance between discipline and love, plus the writer's own Reset for Parents as a relevant resource.
Mailbag Friday: Women Deacons, Heavenly Tourism, & Gentle Parenting
Q: Are there good biblical resources to help my sons prepare for a career path?
The host advises practical, wisdom-based guidance: observe children's gifts from a young age, keep a journal, discuss options, and allow for changing paths as they grow, while prioritizing salvation and godly counsel over secular pressures.
