Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bryony Page: Silver, Bronze, Olympic Gold
Q: So talk us through your experiences at the Olympic Games over the years. So obviously, you tried out for 2008. What was that like?
Bryony describes entering trials with no strong expectation, the close call of missing the London trials, and how the early experiences shaped her resilience and perspective for future Olympics.
Parkour’s Biggest Misconception | Lisa Schneider
Q: Do you think there's a path for parkour to be an Olympic discipline?
It's possible if the sport is understood as distinct from gymnastics, with fair judging and genuine broad-based support, but it remains uncertain and depends on many factors from governing bodies to host city decisions.
Parkour’s Biggest Misconception | Lisa Schneider
Q: What are your thoughts on competitive parkour versus the other option?
Competition is necessary to grow the sport, but it should coexist with the non-competitive, video-driven side and should preserve parkour's spirit of personal exploration.
Parkour’s Biggest Misconception | Lisa Schneider
Q: For someone that is completely uneducated in parkour and gymnastics, how would you describe it?
Parkour is a broad, creative movement practice that happens in real environments, combining efficiency, flow, and personal expression, and it can be done in gyms or on streets.
Is Parkour Really Part of Gymnastics? Will it go to the Olympics?
Q: What would the Olympic version of parkour look like?
Proposals have included four events (men's and women's speed and freestyle) with a combined ranking, but there are challenges around specialization and the overall team format; it's not yet finalized and depends on IOC decisions.
