  • Brilliant helped me be a supportive parent

I really like this show, interviews are always interesting and I often take helpful tips for my own self reflection as a parent either from the guests or from Gordon’s own description of his experiences. To name a few would be that it’s good to win as this presents a learning opportunity, allowing space for my child to reflect on his own experience and performance in his sport, whereas inside I might be itching to dissect his or the team performance.

How to feed a Young Athlete - 'A conversation with Kate Shilland and Fran Taylor(Performance Canteen)'
Q: What is your approach to protein for young athletes?
Favor food-first protein sources and keep protein powders as a backup for on-the-go moments, but ensure products are safe, batch-tested for sport, and suitable for the child with guidance from a sports nutritionist.
‘The Real Manosphere' supporting teenage boys to fulfil their potential both in and out of their sport - 'A conversation with Rick Cooper'
Q: What do parents need to be doing at the moment to support teenage boys in sport and life?
The guest stresses small, practical changes over grand gestures: be the role model, establish eight agreements, maintain clear boundaries, engage in open conversations, limit distractions (like phones) during key times, and foster connection through consistent, genuine check-ins.
‘The Real Manosphere' supporting teenage boys to fulfil their potential both in and out of their sport - 'A conversation with Rick Cooper'

Rick discusses his journey from professional rugby and firefighting to leadership coaching, emphasizing how his experiences shaped his focus on emotional intelligence, belonging, and helping young men develop the tools to be their best selves.
