Most podcasts get samey after a while but not this one. I’m bowled over by how persistently great Film 89 is. They continue to bang out great episodes, I just wish they were more frequent but I guess that’s part of why it still feels fresh. The hosts are hilarious and proper film experts without ever being pretentious. Top marks and keep it up you guys!
This is the first Apple Podcast review I’ve left but couldn’t not leave my praise for this. I’ve listened to over 50 of their episodes so far having recently discovered it. Their Summer of Sequels, 1990 episode (Episode 50 I think) might be the best podcast episode I’ve ever heard. I was a teenager that year and this episode is just pure nostalgic bliss!
This podcast gets better all the time. All the classics are covered in great detail. The original Star Wars trilogy, James Bond, Lord of the Rings and most recently they did Commando, my dad’s favourite film and they nailed it. Wonderful stuff.
If you want an example of a perfect film podcast, just check out Film ‘89’s Goldfinger and Demolition Man episodes, absolutely top class.
