The Spinal Tap episode has some of the worst audio editing I’ve ever heard on a podcast, talking over clips, playing clips at the wrong queues. I had no idea what I was hearing at times.
I think both the hosts are smart and have decent insight at times, but the “Tommy Boy” episode rubbed me the wrong way to such an extent I won’t be listening again. It came off like they were saying “no, you normies don’t actually like this movie, you just like a scene or two and even those aren’t that great!”.
I’m listening to the Goodfellas episode, and Amy doesn’t seem to understand mafia culture—nor does she seem interested in trying. That’s fine, but it keeps her from really grasping the movie. In this world, “Family” doesn’t mean blood relatives; it’s the faction of the mafia you work for. Henry Hill earned for a Family that had a Boss or a Capo—the head of that organization. And the story of Goodfellas is ultimately about how Hill ratted on that Family and broke omertà. What’s being dismissed as... more
I’ve listened on and off but missed the story on They Live. Your anti American is showing. America is the nation that allows for great movies to discuss topics. You turned me off for good. Sad for you if you think like this.

Diplomatic avoidance no doubt, but maybe they should just stick to “funner” top... more
