Rooting For The Seattle Mariners™️ Til the End of Time with Nathan Bishop
Q: What moment defined this Mariners season for you?
Sweeping the Astros and establishing the team as a legitimate force in the AL West, which shifted the season from hopeful to historically interesting in the eyes of fans and analysts.
We're Getting More Human with Jordan Shusterman
Q: Do you have a Mariners player you're especially invested in this season?
Julio Rodríguez remains a focal point, but Logan Gilbert and Jose Ferrer are strong contenders for standout seasons. Ferrer is particularly interesting as a bullpen addition who could impact late-game outcomes.
We're Getting More Human with Jordan Shusterman
Q: Can you explain ABS and how it's being deployed this season?
ABS is a ball-tracking based challenge system where teams get two challenges per game to contest calls within the automatic strike zone; correct challenges are retained, incorrect ones are lost for the game. It's also changing fan engagement and on-field strategy.
We're Getting More Human with Jordan Shusterman
Q: Dan Wilson has been an in-game manager—what is the general frustration and what could be improved this season?
The frustration centers on post-season vs. regular-season decisions; while Wilson is well-liked personally, the regular-season pacing and bullpen usage have drawn criticism. The balance between using top pitchers and preserving them for the postseason is tricky, and the team is iterating on roster construction and pitcher availability.
We're Getting More Human with Jordan Shusterman
Q: But first, let's get a little bit of origin story for you, Jordan. You're an unlikely Mariners fan. Can you tell us how you came to this fandom?
I had no Pacific Northwest ties and initially fell in love with players like Sammy Sosa. My fandom grew through watching Bryce Harper and following prospects, then getting into the Mariners via Felix Hernandez and the excitement around his era, which drew me into Mariners history and fandom.
