  • Great and diversify

One thing I like about the podcast is while it is about welding, everybody is interviewed: women, black people, welders, business owners, engineers, teachers, people from the East Coast, from Ontario, from BC, from USA. Keep on the good work! One recommendation maybe: Once in a blue moon, interview somebody from oversee like France, the UK, Australia, India, China, wherever. CWB has offices in a lot of other countries. Thanks, great job!

Q: What is ArcTig and how does it differ from conventional TIG?
ArcTig uses the same TIG process but with an advanced torch setup and cooling to concentrate the arc, allowing deeper penetration and a appearance closer to GMAW root, especially on thick stainless pipe. It can be used in pre-fit or automated contexts with proper certification and equipment, reducing the need for bevel prep in some cases.

Q: Being a rig welder, how did you make it through COVID?
Projects slowed, so Elias shifted to production work, set up a shop, hired an apprentice, and started making hand sanitizer stands and small maintenance runs to stay afloat.
