The 2024 election was stolen, with the opposition organizing effectively to monitor the vote and showing that they won decisively. Despite censorship and repression, there is widespread understanding among the population that the election was fraudulent.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about how he came to power and how he's been able to cling to power?
Maduro started as a bus driver and union organizer before rising in the political ranks, eventually becoming Chavez's vice president. He managed to stay in power despite facing immense challenges and low expectations due to a combination of opportunism and reliance on state power.
