  • Roundtable is A+

Roundtable is excellent, so smart. I will say though that sometimes Jane Mayer interrupts Susan Glasser and it makes me cringe. I see you Susan.

However, story on the street is that vance himself planted that story, not a leak that “he was against the war” which is also not true as it is being said that vance really said they would need to go into iran hard snd fast. fact-check both sides of this story people.

  • Ignorant @ Latino Catholics

Typically great and informed commentary on national politics. Episode about Vance and Catholicism totally missed that 36% of Catholic adults are Latino, and 52% of Catholics under age 30 are Latino. Latino Catholics are much more likely to vote Democratic than are white Catholics. White Catholics skew older. Please update the knowledge of the commentators. It’s meaningful.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Senator Rand Paul Voted to Limit Donald Trump’s War Powers
Q: How do you assess the accuracy of reports that the president was excluded from planning sessions?
Paul says he has no information supporting such reports and doubts their truth, underscoring his view of Trump as not being systematically excluded from meetings.
Why Senator Rand Paul Voted to Limit Donald Trump’s War Powers
Q: Do you get punished by President Trump for disagreeing with him?
Remnick probes disciplinary dynamics within the party; Paul replies that while there is no formal punishment, minority status makes advocacy and dissent more challenging, reinforcing a commitment to speaking truth to power.
How a Trump-Endorsed Republican Could Become California’s Next Governor
Q: Mr. Hilton, you were born in the United Kingdom. You have a British accent. What are you doing running for governor of California? How did you get here, and why should the voters of California say yes?
Hilton explains his move to California in 2012, his diverse background in politics and business, and argues his blend of private-sector and governmental experience makes him a capable executive ready with plans to improve the state.
Is Zohran Mamdani’s “Sewer Socialism” Resonating?
Q: Is the 'outsider' image sustainable as he governs?
The guest argues that sustaining the outsider persona depends on how colleagues and the public perceive continued effectiveness; over time, as policies take shape and results become tangible, the image may shift from outsider to capable administrator, which could be advantageous or limiting depending on performance.
Is Zohran Mamdani’s “Sewer Socialism” Resonating?
Q: How has Mamdani handled relations with Hochul and Trump, and why does that matter?
The host notes that Mamdani has pursued a conciliatory stance with Hochul to govern effectively and has used strategic overtures toward Trump to secure support or leverage, suggesting a pragmatic approach to cross-partisan governance that could affect his political capital.
